Jepara, May 17, 2025 – The lecturer service team from the Aquatic Resources Management Study Program (MSP), Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPIK), Diponegoro University (Undip) chaired by Mr. Kukuh Prakoso, S.Pi., M.Si with members Mr. Dr. Ir. Haeruddin, M.Si., Mr. Arif Rahman, S.Pi., M.Si and Mrs. Diani Estining Tyas, S.Pi., M.Pi showed their commitment to community service through a plastic waste management optimization program in Teluk Awur Village, Jepara. This program is implemented in collaboration with the local Village-Owned Enterprise (BUMDes) as part of efforts to preserve the environment and coastal water resources.

Teluk Awur, as one of the coastal areas that has tourism and fisheries potential, faces serious challenges due to plastic pollution that threatens the marine ecosystem. Through this community service program, the MSP Study Program Lecturer Team, FPIK Undip provides alternative plastic waste management facilities & infrastructure at the Teluk Awur Tourism Beach, which is expected to realize a clean environment of Teluk Awur Beach from waste.

“This program aims to reduce the burden of plastic waste in the coastal environment of Teluk Awur , with the addition of trash bins and information boards, it is hoped that visitors can dispose of waste in its place so that it does not pollute the environment,” said Mr. Kukuh Prakoso, S.Pi., M.Si, Head of the service team.

This initiative received a positive response from village officials and the community of Teluk Awur. The village official of Teluk Awur, Mr. Rohman, expressed his appreciation for this activity. “We are grateful for the attention of FPIK Undip lecturers to Teluk Awur,” he said. This community service activity is a clear proof of the active role of higher education in solving problems in the community, as well as strengthening the synergy between academics and society for sustainable development.
