Danau Rawa Pening, October 25, 2024 – The Community Development and Empowerment Program (P3M) Service Team of the Management of Aquatic Resources (MSP) Diponegoro University chaired by Arif Rahman, S.Pi., M.Si. and consisting of Oktavianto Eko Jati, S.Pi., M.Si., Kukuh Prakoso, S.Pi., M.Si., Ratna Herdiana, M.Sc., Ph.D. and MSP students have carried out black tilapia seed stocking activities in KJA Lake Rawa Pening, Semarang Regency as an effort to increase fish farming productivity. The activity took place on Friday, October 25, 2024 morning and involved various parties, including the local community and students.
A total of 3,000 black tilapia fish seeds were stocked in floating net cages owned by the Lancar Manunggal and Lestari Mulyo groups in the waters of Lake Rawa Pening. The fish seeds are expected to increase the productivity of the community groups and support the sustainability of the aquatic ecosystem. In addition, this activity also aims to help the economy of people who depend on fish catches from KJA in the lake.
Mr. Arif Rahman, S.Pi., M.Si., as the head of the service team, said that this activity was part of a community empowerment program designed to increase the productivity of fish farming and encourage the sustainable use of aquatic resources. “We hope this program can provide long-term benefits, both from the ecological and economic aspects. Community groups around Lake Rawa Pening are expected to be more independent in managing fish farming in an environmentally friendly way,” said the head of the service team.
The event was also filled with educational sessions for the community about the importance of maintaining the lake ecosystem and how to cultivate fish in environmentally friendly KJA. The people who attended seemed enthusiastic about the session.
One of the people who attended, Mr. Andreas as one of the KJA owners, said that the stocking of black tilapia seeds in this KJA could preserve the black tilapia population in Lake Rawa Pening. “The black tilapia that is spread in this KJA is a type of fish that lives in Lake Rawa Pening, so that by spreading seeds it can preserve and multiply its population.” said Mr. Andreas.
Stocking black tilapia seeds in Lake Rawa Pening is the first step in a series of activities planned by the UNDIP P3M MSP Service Team. The next activity, the Service Team applied diffuser aeration in the KJA to optimize the quality of cultivation water.
With this activity, it is hoped that Lake Rawa Pening will not only be a source of life for the local community, but also be maintained as one of the important assets of the aquatic ecosystem in Semarang Regency.
