Opening Remarks by the Head of Bandengan Village

In his remarks, Mr. Sumadi expressed his appreciation for the implementation of the program, emphasizing the importance of safety awareness in supporting sustainable coastal tourism development. He highlighted that visitor safety is a key component in creating a tourism destination that is safe, comfortable, and attractive to both local and international visitors.

The community service program consisted of educational sessions, interactive discussions, and basic emergency response training. The first session focused on “Coastal Tourism Safety Education to Prevent Direct Contact with Hazardous Marine Organisms at Prawean Beach, Jepara.” Participants were introduced to various marine organisms that may pose risks to beach visitors, including jellyfish, sea urchins, venomous fish, and other potentially harmful aquatic species. The session also covered preventive measures, first aid procedures, and recommendations for safe recreational activities in coastal environments.

The second session addressed “Enhancing Marine Tourism Safety at Prawean Beach, Jepara.” This educational program provided participants with knowledge regarding common risks associated with coastal tourism, including swimming accidents, slips and falls, strong currents, and other emergency situations. Beach management personnel were trained on safety awareness, visitor communication strategies, and appropriate initial responses before professional medical assistance becomes available.

As part of the implementation of the Integrated Safety Tourism concept, the Community Service Team also provided First Aid (P3K) facilities and equipment to the beach management authority. The provision of these facilities is expected to strengthen the preparedness and response capacity of local tourism managers in handling minor injuries and emergency situations involving visitors.

According to the Team Leader, Oktavianto Eko Jati, S.Pi., M.Si., tourism safety is a shared responsibility among tourism managers, local communities, and visitors. Through this initiative, it is expected that Prawean Beach management will gain greater capacity in coastal safety management and be better equipped to provide a safer tourism experience for visitors.
